Why do I have to fill out so much paperwork?

We get it — paperwork is unfun. But here's why it matters:

  • Safety first: We need important details about your health and history so we can give you the best possible care.
  • Legal stuff: Therapy is a professional service, and some forms are there to protect your rights (and ours).
  • Personalization: The information you share helps us tailor your therapy journey to YOU, not just a one-size-fits-all plan.

Think of it as the map that helps us navigate where we're going — without it, we're just guessing directions. If paperwork is not filled out prior to your first appointment, it may impact the time spent with the therapist and possibly delay getting started.

What is the late cancellation/no-show policy and why does this exist?

Life happens — we know! But here's why the policy exists:

  • Respect for time: Your session is reserved just for you. When there's a no-show or last-minute cancellation, that time can't easily be given to someone else who may be waiting for an appointment.
  • Consistency matters: Therapy works best when you show up regularly, and this policy helps keep that momentum going.
  • How therapists are paid: Therapists don't get paid by the hour they sit, they are paid by the session. And unfortunately, insurance companies won't cover missed or late-canceled sessions.

We require 24 business hours cancellation notice for all cancellations to allow for the opportunity to back-fill that time slot with someone who may need it. The full session fee is applied to late cancellations or no-show sessions.

How do I prepare for therapy?

Think of therapy as your mental health gym — it's not about looking perfect, it's about showing up ready to work.

  • What to wear: Whatever makes you comfortable! If you want to rock your cozy sweatpants, do it. If dressing up makes you feel more put-together, go for it. There's no dress code — just come as you are.
  • What to share: Bring your thoughts, feelings, and even your "I don't know what to say" moments. Some people arrive with a mental list of what they want to talk about, others just dive in and let the conversation flow. Both approaches work!
  • Other tips: Try to give yourself a few minutes before session to pause, breathe, and settle in. You don't need to rehearse your whole life story — therapy is a process and we will unpack it together over time!
How do I check in for my appointment?

In the lobby, you will see an iPad hanging on the wall. Scroll to your therapist's picture on the iPad and tap the picture. From there, you will hit the "Notify" button. This alerts your therapist that you have made it! Feel free to have a seat in the waiting area and your therapist will come to get you as soon as they are available.

How do I find the office?

Our address is:
200 Chase Park South, Suite 226, Hoover, AL 35244

Coming from I-459: If you take a left on Riverchase Parkway (the stop light past the Hobby Lobby) then take your first left and almost immediate right, our building is basically right in front of you. You will see a sign that says 500 and then a sign that says 200 behind it. To get upstairs, there is a stairwell next to the building signs. If stairs are not your thing, you can keep driving a bit up the road past the 200 sign (swing around to the left). You will see some handicap parking on your right. There is a ramp to the second floor there where you will not have to use the stairs.
